Praise the Bridges That Carried Us Over is a proposed large-scale photographic mural of Miami-based community organizer Valencia Gunder. Known for her advocacy for the incarcerated in Florida, she has championed state legislation that improved conditions at correctional facilities and restored voting rights for former felons. The work’s title draws from a quote by the late civil rights activist Fanny Lou Hamer.
